Thanksgiving in LA

So the night before was the basketball game and now, we fly down to LA to spend our first thanksgiving with our auntie and uncle who live in Hollywood, I know, pretty flash right..?! We have been living here for just under two months by this point and are still super excited to see everything!

We get collected from the airport and taken to their house near Sunset Boulevard. It was such a beautiful home. We stayed out in the guest house and had full access to everything, including their pool and hot tub, it was great! The first night was quite a chilled one as we didn’t get there until the evening.

Thanksgiving day arrives and we were taken on a hike up to see the Hollywood sign. It was such a long journey on the way up but the views were incredible! We did the standard posing but I’ll spare you the pain of that as the photos were just horrific! Hahah Here are a couple of shots that make the blog cut…

After our day of hiking we settled in for a nice big thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. Turkey, veg, mac & cheese, gravy, potatoes, pigs in blankets…basically an early Christmas dinner, SO good! followed by dessert and a few G&T’s in the hot tub, PERRRRRFECT 🙂

Friday we decided to explore Hollywood a little, we went along to Hollywood Boulevard and did the typical tourist things like seeing the Walk of Fame and going on a celebrity homes bus tour. After a day of being tourists, we went for a group meal which was a gift paid for by my in-laws back in the U.K for my birthday. It was really lovely to see a different side of the Hollywood madness, it definitely seems like a different place at night.

On the Saturday, as a treat, we were given front of the line passes to visit Universal Studios, Hollywood. We were so excited, we went on the studio tour and saw all the sets the use in films and tv shows such as Bruce Almighty, Fast and Furious, Desperate Housewives, War of the Worlds and Jaws. They showed us all the tricks and how they create flood scenes in their movies. The tour along side all the other attractions and rides there are really good. The Minion ride was fairly new on our visit which was pretty entertaining. Unfortunately at this time Harry Potter World wasn’t open but it was in the process of being created, and I 100% plan to go back just for that alone.. I definitely want to fly on a broomstick and get my wand from Olivander… (I’m certain my Hogwarts letter is still trying to find its way to me….) Anyway, I would say that Universal Studios, Hollywood  is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and have the time!!
